Jide Adeoye
Up-and-coming praise and worship leader Jide Adeoye (pronounced GEE-day Ah-deh-OH-yay) presented his live recording The Worship Experience to a packed house in his home church in Toronto, Canada. The stellar production, rarely seen by many of today’s Canadian artists, found believers lifting their hands in worship and dancing in praise during the artist’s debut live CD/DVD recording. One of the favorites of the project was the celebratory “This Is The Day”. The worshipper decided to give the record a new twist and just released a remix of the single, written and produced by Stephen Lewis and remixed by Daniel Weatherspoon. Based on the popular scripture, “This Is The Day” is a festive song of praise. The new contemporary track sets the tone for an exciting encounter with God. “This Is The Day Remix” is currently available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify.
Just a few years ago, many would have found it hard to believe that this gifted singer was called to ministry. Although he had ministers in his family and was born in church, he had a “falling away” period. Born in Nigeria, he left to go to the United Kingdom. Away from the watchful eye of his family, things began to change for him. “When I got to England, I start clubbing,” Jide recalls. “In my late teens, I decided I wanted to test some things out. I started partying hard and drinking a lot. I partied so much that I failed my A-levels, a qualification exam for students completing pre-university education.” The humiliation brought him to his knees and ultimately, he graduated with a degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Toronto, one of the country’s most prestigious universities. His recommitment to the Lord was the start of his music ministry.
Since that time, his debut record, The Worship Experience, was nominated for a GMA Canada Covenant Award for Gospel Album of the Year. The psalmist has been hitting the road, traveling to the states. He’s been seen at Stellar Award events in Las Vegas and on television on TBN in Chicago, TCT in Detroit, Cornerstone in Pittsburgh and Atlanta Live. In addition, he made an appearance at the Chicago Gospel Fest Showcase and has been featured in The Belle Report.
A passionate lover of God, Jide has been blessed to share the stage with artists such as Don Moen, VaShawn Mitchell, Sonnie Badu and William McDowell. Currently, he is a worship leader at House of Praise Church. He is in the planning stages of his sophomore live recording titled In His Presence. Stepping the worship up a few notches from The Worship Experience, In His Presence will be an explosive time of worship and praise. The live recording will take place in Toronto in November 2016.
